With the announcement of lockdown during COVID-19 Stormont School had already begun to plan for an uncertain future. Live online lessons were put in place for the whole school including assemblies so that teachers could keep in touch with the pupils. It has to be said that there was a lot of online learning for the teachers and Senior Leadership Team but with dogged determination Stormont School pulled together. Each week the live lessons increased, every child was issued a secure email address so that work could be issued and returned to be marked by the class teacher. When the good news came that Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 could return we welcomed them with open arms (but not literally due to social distancing). It was so lovely to see the girls and for them to see their teachers. With lots of planning and discussions and a huge amount of work, Stormont School rose to the challenge and although we didn’t have to bring the whole school back, we felt the decision was right. We anted to give the girls (and parents) some structure and to finish an extraordinary term on a high. We had 90% attendance which was outstanding.
We even managed an online concert and Prize Giving!
