We are pleased to announce that Kinnari P in Year 1 recently won First Prize in the IAPS iArt Competition.
This year IAPS ran a Fine Art competition which meant that there wasn’t a theme but it had to be a drawing, painting, printing, collage or sculpture. It was divided into 3 categories of ages. All the girls from Year 1 to Year 6 at Stormont produced a piece of artwork in their art lessons. Three pieces were sent in by Mrs Ruth Burgess, the Art Coordinator earlier in the year. In the Year 1 – 2 age group, Kinnari P submitted a collaged self-portrait. Annabella S in the Year 3 – 4 age group submitted a pen and ink drawing of fruit and vegetables and in the Year 5 – 6 age group, Amy S submitted a lino print of trees. All artwork was from primary observation.
Kinnari used coloured paper for her collage self-portrait and was a very good likeness. The girls used mirrors to record the shapes and detail they saw. The shapes were built up from the background and was completed over a series of lessons. Kinnari’s use of colour and proportion was exceptional.
Kinnari’s winning entry is now in our Head’s Gallery and we congratulate her for her effort and attention to detail. Well done.
