Head's Welcome
Welcome to Stormont – A Small School with Big Ambition
It’s a real privilege to be Head of such a special school. Stormont is a forward-thinking, nurturing environment where every girl is known, encouraged and celebrated — and I’m so proud of what we offer here.
People are often surprised by the size of our beautiful building compared to the number of girls we have. But for us, that’s the magic — we’re small by design. It means we can give each girl the time, attention and individual support she needs to flourish.
The Main House was built in 1874 by Robert Kirkcaldie as a home for his family of eight. It’s full of character and charm, and I love how many of the original features still remain — especially the stained-glass window, which includes heartfelt tributes to his wife Rosa and the things that mattered most to him. That same spirit of care, family and individuality still runs through the school today.
At Stormont, we’re passionate about giving girls the confidence, skills and self-belief to go out and make their mark on the world. They learn using modern approaches, guided by staff who really understand how to support, stretch and inspire each one of them — both in the classroom and beyond it.
When the time comes for your daughter to move on, we’ll be right by your side, helping you choose the senior school that’s the right fit for her — academically, socially and emotionally. Our girls move on to a wide range of top schools across Hertfordshire and London, and we’re proud to be part of the St Albans Education Group, which offers assessment-free entry to St Albans High School for Girls for those who meet the criteria.
More than anything, Stormont feels like a home. It’s warm, welcoming, and full of life — and I really look forward to showing you what makes it so personal and unique to every family who joins us.
